Just Chat

I am sorry about the mix-up at the meeting in August. Bryan Coleman had been in touch with the booking staff at the school and he was told that we could use the room as normal. In fact the booking staff had failed to inform the other staff that we would be requiring it and they had filled it with items for storage during the school holidays.

Further to my piece about Norton Utilities. Norton eventually sent me an email in which they informed me that I need not bother to register my copy of the program as they had registered it for me. I wonder why all the bother. They could have done this in the first place. Note! It was probably my fault that I had the difficulty. Regarding the pricing for the upgrade and the fact that I could have purchased a full up-to-date version for less than the upgrade they merely said that they had no control over the price charged by another company.

I was turning over various things in my mind recently. I seem to have less time for anything now that I am retired than I had when I was working. I wondered what I could do to give me more time. Could I make time by more use of my computer or less ? I decided that some of the things I do on my computer I could manage without such as reconciling my bank account. I have done this for years without ever finding a banking error. I decided that a quick look at my statement would suffice. I enjoy entering my CD's in a database but it does take time and having entered them I very rarely use it and I could manage very well without. I rarely use the internet so there was not much time to be saved there. I have a very good specialist program for keeping names and addresses. I must keep this although when requiring a telephone number or address I invariably ask my wife who seems able to remember them all.

I was surprised to find however, how much I depend on my computer these days.

Having decided to drastically reduce my computer work, my son arrived with about fifty greeting cards for me to scan a nd produce a catalogue together with numerous header cards for rotating card viewing stands. A job dwarfing my time saving so I thought, what the hell, I might just as well carry on as before.
